Description

The replacement of the original Orem High School represents a transformative investment in the Orem community — a 220,000-square-foot, three-story educational facility built to replace an aging predecessor and serve generations of students to come.

Designed by NWL Architects and completed in 2010, the project was executed in three carefully sequenced phases to maintain continuity for the school community: Phase I addressed parking infrastructure and selective demolition of the existing building; Phase II delivered full new building construction; and Phase III completed the transformation with demolition of the original structure and construction of new parking and play fields.

The facility is built to last. Type IIB construction, load-bearing masonry with post-and-beam steel framing, and a durable exterior skin of Atlas brick and insulated metal panel combine structural integrity with architectural character. Interior finishes throughout are selected for longevity and minimal maintenance. Mechanical systems — featuring heat pump technology paired with a boiler system — deliver high-efficiency heating and cooling across the entire campus.

Every learning environment within the building was designed with the student experience in mind. Abundant natural daylight fills classrooms and common spaces, while sweeping views of the Wasatch Mountains and Mount Timpanogos provide an inspiring backdrop to daily academic life.
