Alta View Elementary
This new building design replaced an aging facility located in the heart of the White City community of Salt Lake. The school design includes state-of-the-art learning centers. Large Group instructional spaces, and “Brain Booster” studios are designed to boost engagement and comprehension. Designed around a steel frame, the exterior cladding features a brick veneer and metal panel facade designed to fit the single family residential neighborhood. Construction was phased to avoid relocation of the students. Improved playground, outdoor learning areas and site circulation with separation of bus and parent drop-off and pickup.

The NWLA team worked closely with the Ogden School District to provide the best possible solution to the challenges of construction with school in session. Community meetings were held at key points during the design process to ensure the new school is responsive to the needs of the community. The new T. O. Smith Elementary School incorporates modern security features, enhanced technology and provides a learning environment that supports social and emotional growth of the students.
