This school building accommodates a total year-round population of approximately 1,000 students, housing about 750 on-track students at any time. The site plan specifically accommodates the addition of six re-locatable classrooms allowing growth upwards of another 150 to 200 students. The central commons: administration, media center, multipurpose activity and dining - serve to break this large facility down into two smaller halves. Clustering of classroom space serves to create a more intimate neighborhood. Educational processes are enhanced by large and small breakout activity centers supporting teachers with a varied means of presentation. The large breakout areas support the development of art, science and drama activities. All teaching stations are flooded with natural light, enhancing day to day learning. Interior finishes are durable yet playful in the use of color, texture and form.
